German federal energy regulator Bundesnetzagentur (BNA) has announced the conditions of the first auction (conditions for the grid connection and support payments) for offshore wind parks. The maximum support payment is set at €12c/kWh and projects with the lowest bids will be awarded.
The first auction will be held on 1 April 2017. It will offer 1,550 MW of offshore wind capacity, applying to plants to be put into operation after 31 December 2020. All offshore wind parks which were approved before August 2016 or have an advanced approval permit may participate in the tender. Further requirements concern the location of offshore wind parks within the North Sea and Baltic Sea.
The second offshore wind tender will take place on 1 April 2018 and will also offer 1,550 MW of capacity. The total volume of the tender therefore amounts to 3,100 MW, of which at least 500 MW will be developed in the Baltic Sea.
