GBE (UK) aims to deliver 15 GW of renewable and storage capacity by 2030

The UK State-owned Great British Energy (GBE) has announced its plans to deliver at least 15 GW of clean energy generation and storage capacity by 2030 according to its latest strategic plan (GBE press release, 04/12/2025). To accomplish its goal, the company expects to mobilise £15bn (€17bn) of private finance to accelerate the development of clean generation. The 15 GW portfolio is expected to generate enough energy to power around 10 million homes.

Great British Energy was established by the UK Government to accelerate the country’s transition to clean, home-grown energy. The UK aims to fully decarbonise its power system by 2035.
