France has announced plans to launch a call for tenders in 2025 for the installation of 10 GW of offshore wind parks. Aiming to reach a total offshore wind target of 45 GW by 2050, France plans to award 10 GW of offshore wind projects to be constructed between 2025 to 2035, expecting to reach 18 GW of operational wind capacity by 2035. As of 2023, France has a total of 8 GW of offshore in different stages of development, and the country added 2.4 GW of wind capacity in 2022, compared to 1.3 GW/year between 2014 and 2021. The government expects to invest around €200m (U$217m) to position the country as one of the world leaders in floating wind power.
