France’s energy regulator, the Commission de Régulation de l’Energie (CRE), has selected 39 onshore wind projects and 326 rooftop solar projects as successful bidders in the latest rounds of the PPE2 tender programme, based on the proposals submitted by the regulator (CRE press release, 08/07/2026).
According to the CRE, the successful onshore wind projects represent a combined capacity of 808 MW and achieved a weighted average price of EUR77.08/MWh, a decrease of EUR9.5/MWh compared with the previous auction round. The 11th tender attracted bids totalling 2,378 MW, against an auction volume of 800MW.
The regulator also stated that repowering projects are, on average, already more competitive than other onshore wind developments and recommended that future tender rounds should not include dedicated quotas or bonus mechanisms for such projects.
The CRE said the successful rooftop solar projects account for 300 MW of installed capacity, with a weighted average price of EUR82.98/MWh, representing a decline of EUR13.5/MWh from the previous tender. The 12th auction round, which closed in April, received applications totalling 1,559 MW, compared with a procurement target of 300MW. Projects with a capacity below 1MWp represented 70% of all applications.
“For the sake of simplification and to improve the efficiency of the support schemes, the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) considers that the scope of the PV tenders could be revised by extending the eligibility criteria for the Small-Scale PV Tender to all projects in the 100 kWp–1 MWp segment, while correspondingly raising the minimum capacity threshold for the Large-Scale Ground-Mounted PV and Building-Mounted PV Tenders to 1 MWp”, said the regulator in its press release.
