EDP, through its French subsidiary EDP Renewables France and Ocean Winds, its joint venture with ENGIE, has announced plans to invest EUR1.3bn in France over the next four years (EDP press release, 01/06/2026). The investment will support the development of more than 1 GW of onshore and offshore renewable energy projects across the country. “Fully dispatchable by the grid operator, the new wind, solar, and storage assets will strengthen the country’s competitiveness” said the company.
At the same time, German renewable energy developer Enertrag has unveiled an investment programme in France extending through 2030, aimed at expanding the country’s renewable energy infrastructure and reaching a total installed capacity of 1 GW (Enertrag press release, 01/06/2026). As part of a EUR1.1bn strategy, the company intends to commission at least 100 MW of renewable energy generation and battery storage capacity each year. The programme features a series of hybrid projects combining renewable power generation with battery storage systems to improve grid flexibility and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources. Among the planned developments is a 120 MW energy hub in Hauts-de-France, bringing together two wind parks and battery storage facilities, with commissioning scheduled for March 2027. A second 110 MW hub in Nouvelle-Aquitaine will integrate three wind parks with battery storage capacity.
Both investment announcements were made during the Choose France Summit.
