Fortum wins the right to build 933 MW of renewable capacity in Russia

The Fortum-Rusnano wind investment fund (50% owned by the Finnish company Fortum) has won the right to build 823 MW of wind power capacity and 110 MW of solar capacity during the last Russian Capacity Supply Agreement (CSA) auction. The solar project will be commissioned in 2021-2022 and will be awarded a guaranteed power price of €150/MWh for a 15-year period. The wind parks will be built in 2019-2023 and will receive a guaranteed power price of €60-90/MWh for a 15-years period.



Fortum-Rusnano is a joint-venture (JV) between the Finnish utility Fortum and the Russian technology company Rusnano. In 2017, it already won the right to build 1,000 MW of wind power to be commissioned by 2022, 50 MW of which are currently under construction. So far, the company has 70 MW of operational wind and solar capacity in Russia: the 35 MW Ulyanovsk wind park and 35 MW of solar capacity in Bashkortostan and in the Orenburg region.



The tender was organized in May-June 2018 and included 830 MW of wind power capacity, 150 MW of solar PV capacity and 270 MW of mini-hydropower projects. The delivery of the wind power projects will be delivered between 2019 and 2023: 100 MW in 2019, 230 MW in 2021 and 500 MW in 2023. The solar PV projects will be delivered as follows: 35 MW in 2019, 78 MW in 2021 and 38 MW in 2022. As for hydropower, the selected projects will be commissioned as follows: 109 MW in 2020, 11 MW in 2021, 11 MW in 2022 and 139 MW in 2023
