Estonia invites bids for a 552 MW offshore wind project in the Saare 7 area

The Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (CPTRA) has invited bids for the development of a 552 MW offshore wind project in the Saare 7 area offshore Estonia. CPTRA's call comes after it received an application from Sunly Wind. According to the licence application from Sunly Wind, 46 wind turbines rated 15 MW each, a substation and submarine cables are planned for the Saare 7 area. Interested parties are invited to submit competing applications for the area to the CPTRA by 18 March 2025.

In 2023, wind represented over 13% of Estonia’s installed capacity with 408 MW. The development of wind is a main priority for the country, with several offshore projects in development. Estonia aims to reach 4.3 TWh of renewable power generation in 2030, including 2.6 TWh from wind in order to achieve its target of reaching climate neutrality by 2050.
