Equinor discovers 30–110 mboe of gas in the Norwegian part of the North Sea

Equinor has announced two new gas and condensate discoveries in the Sleipner area of the North Sea off Norway, representing the company’s largest discoveries so far in 2025 (Equinor press release, 05/12/2025).

“The two wells, Lofn and Langemann in production license 1140, are located between the Gudrun and Eirin fields. Preliminary estimates indicate that the reservoirs may contain between 5 and 18 million standard cubic meters (mcm) of recoverable oil equivalents, corresponding to 30 to 110 million barrels.”

The license holders for the area are Equinor Energy (60%) and Aker BP (40%), Norwegian oil and gas company operating in the North Sea.
