Enea commissions the 1 GW Kozienice-11 coal-fired power plant (Poland)

The Polish state-run energy company Enea has commissioned a new 1,075 MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired unit at the Kozienice power plant in Świerże Górne in Poland. The commissioning of the Kozienice-11 power block increases the output capacity of the Kozienice power plant up to 4,000 MW, pushing Enea Group’s share in the domestic production of electricity up to 13%.

The unit achieves an efficiency level of 45.6%, which allows a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by about 25% compared with the emissions from existing coal-fired blocks. Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe (MHPSE) and Polimex-Mostostal (PXM) were in charge of the construction. MHPSE supplied the boiler, the steam turbine, the generator and all associated auxiliary equipment.

The Kozienice power station is the second largest power generating facility in Poland, behind the 5,354 MW Bełchatów power plant.
