The Spanish energy group Endesa has released its 2024 results, announcing positive economic outcomes after a year of normalisation of the electricity and gas energy markets. The group saw an increase on its consolidated net profit to almost €1.9bn (+154% compared to 2023), and added 200 MW of renewable generation capacity to reach a green portfolio of 10.1 GW by the end of 2024. In 2024, its installed capacity rose by 1% to 21.4 GW and its power generation dipped by 0.8% to 60 TWh, despite a 25% growth in renewable power generation to 17.8 TWh driven by a good hydrological year. Overall, renewable sources accounted for 30% of its power generation. Endesa distributed 139 TWh (+1.6%), and sold 74 TWh (-4%), including 67 TWh on the liberalised market (-4%) and 7.3 TWh on the regulated market (-3%), to over 10 million customers. Endesa also sold 62 TWh of gas (-4%) to 1.8 million customers.
During 2024, the company invested €900m in distribution networks and is considering to expand and accelerate its 2025-2027 investment plan depending on the regulatory scenario and the network's remuneration for the period 2026-2031 that is expected to be known throughout 2025. Endesa recently acquired hydroelectric assets for 626 MW at the end of February 2025.
