EMF selects Siemens Gamesa for two offshore wind projects in France

Eolien Maritime France (EMF), a joint venture between EDF Renewables and Canadian energy infrastructure company Enbridge, has turned to the turbine supplier Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to provide turbines for two of its three offshore wind projects in France, i.e. 498 MW Fécamp, 480 MW Saint-Nazaire (480 MW) and 450 MW Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind projects. GE, which was the exclusive supplier, has just decided to deliver and service Haliade 150-6MW wind turbines for just one of EMF’s projects, the first to be cleared of any legal recourse. The subsequent two projects will be equipped with Siemens Gamesa turbines of a similar size. All other aspects of the projects will remain the same.

The 498 MW Fécamp offshore wind park is developed by EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN), Enbridge and WPD Offshore, and is expected to be commissioned in 2021. The 480 MW Saint-Nazaire wind project is developed off Saint-Nazaire (Loire Atlantique); commissioning is expected for 2022. The Calvados project off Courseulles-sur-Mer is expected in 2023.
