Ecuador prequalifies companies for wind and solar projects (310 MW)

The Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources of Ecuador has prequalified 9 international companies or consortia that will be allowed to take part to the public selection process for building, operating and maintaining the 200 MW El Aromo solar PV project and the Villonaco II and III wind power projects (total capacity of 110 MW) worth US$400m.

 

The solar PV project received 19 expressions of interest (EoIs), while the wind projects received 15 EoIs and 12 companies applied for both projects. Six companies pre-qualified for both projects, namely Neoen, Consortium Cobra Zero-E Villonaco, China Harbor Engineering, Total Eren, China Huadian Hongkong Company Limited and EDP Renovaveis. Two additional companies qualified for the solar PV project, namely Solarpackteam and Faisal Consortium-CRBC-GCL, raising the number of companies shortlisted for the PV project to 8. In addition Fisterra Energy pre-qualified for the wind projects (7 shortlisted bidders). The projects are expected to be awarded on 15 April 2020.
