DEWA's 700 MW Jebel Ali gas-fired expansion project is 98% complete (UAE)

State-run utility Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) reports that the 700 MW M-Station gas-fired expansion project in Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates) is 98% complete. After the completion of the turbine testing phase, DEWA will begin the pilot operation of the plant. The commissioning and commercial operation phases will follow later in 2019.

The expansion project encompasses the installation of new power generation units - two dual-fuel gas turbine generators, two heat recovery steam boilers, and one steam turbine. It will bring the overall capacity of the Jebel Ali power plant from the current 2,185 MW to 2,885 MW once completed and will also increase the gas-fired facility's thermal efficiency from 82.4% to 85.8%.

DEWA's current power generation installed capacity currently stands at 10,927 MW, most of which is gas-fired.
