The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has adopted the development plans for the Kattegat and Kriegers Flak II offshore wind projects, rated at least 1 GW each. The projects are currently being tendered by the DEA, and their final capacity will be set depending on the winner of the process. However, they should have a total minimum capacity of 1 GW and are expected to be connected to the grid at Trige High Voltage Station and a new station in Southeast Zealand, respectively. The bid deadline is 1 April 2025, and the winner of the individual tender will have to carry out an environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the specific offshore wind project, since the approved plan alone does not allow for the establishment of facilities.
In April 2024, the DAE launched a tender for at least 6 GW of offshore wind capacity, to be completed in 2030. The auction corresponds to six projects at four areas: North Sea I (at least 3 GW, split in three projects), Kattegat (at least 1 GW), Kriegers Flak II (at least 1 GW) and Hesselø (0.8-1.2 GW). Projects will be built without state subsidies.
At the end of 2023, Denmark had 2.6 GW of offshore wind capacity, accounting for 15% of the installed capacity. Overall, wind power (onshore and offshore) covered 57% of the country's power generation in 2023.
