The Ministry of Hydrocarbons of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Congo DR) will launch an international call for tenders in late July 2022 for 16 oil blocks. The tender, which will take place from 28 July 2022 to 29 July 2022, encompasses 16 oil blocks out of 32, including 13 onshore and 3 offshore, located in the Graben Tanganyika, the "Cuvette centrale" region and the coastal basin. The Congolese government, which targets an oil output of 200,000 bbl/d, intends to generate US$40m in preliminary fees from the tender.

Perenco is currently the sole oil company operating in the country, with an output of 8,200 mbl in 2020. The company operates 11 onshore and offshore fields located in the coastal basin.
