Companies line up for Poland’s first offshore wind auction (4 GW)

Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) has announced that its first auction for 4 GW offshore wind capacity will take place in December 2025. The auction is expected to be competitive and will select projects offering the most favourable energy sales prices under a 25-year contract for difference (CfD) support system. The financing of the tender will be carried out from renewable energy fees collected by the electricity transmission system operator (TSO).

The consortium between Norway’s Equinor and Poland’s Polenergia has submitted a pre-qualification application to ERO for its 1,560 MW Bałtyk 1 offshore wind project. The Bałtyk 1 offshore wind is planned to be developed off the coast of Gdańsk (Poland), featuring up to 104 turbines to power up to 2 million Polish households with renewable energy. The project received its environmental permit for the construction and operation of artificial islands, structures, and equipment within Polish maritime zones in May 2025.

Polenergia and Equinor are jointly developing two additional offshore wind projects off Poland, namely Bałtyk 2, and Bałtyk 3, which will have a combined capacity of up to 1,440 MW (720 MW each). These two projects are scheduled for operations by 2027.
