The Indian State-run mining group Coal India has launched tenders to develop 3 GW of grid-connected solar projects across India on a turnkey basis and 2 GW of wind power projects. Proposed solar projects should have a capacity between 200 MW and 3 GW, with a minimum capacity utilization factor of 25%. The selected projects are expected to be developed in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, close to interstate transmission (ISTS) networks. Selected developers will be required to work on the design, engineering, supply and procurement, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the solar projects, including operation and maintenance services.
Coal India has an installed solar capacity of about 200 MW, and it aims to raise is renewable energy capacity to 3 GW by 2028 and 9.5 GW by 2030.
