State-run nuclear group China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has installed the reactor pressure vessel at the 1,000 MWe (1,150 MWe gross) Fuqing-6 reactor in the Fujian province of China.
The Fuqing site will accommodate six reactors, of which four 1,087 MWe Chinese-designed CPR-1000 units. The first one was commissioned in November 2014 and the fourth one in September 2017. In April 2015, the National Development and Reform Commission of China gave its final approval for the construction of the next phase, namely Fuqing-5 and Fuqing-6, two pressurized water reactors (PWRs) which entered construction in May and December 2015 and are expected to be commissioned in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
The Fuqing nuclear power plant project is owned by China Nuclear Power Company (51%), Huadian Fuxin Energy Company (39%) and Fujian Investment and Development Group (10%).
