CHN Energy commissions 1 GW solar project off the coast of Shandong

The Chinese group CHN Energy (CEIC) has connected to China’s grid a 1 GW bottom-fixed solar power plant off the coast of the Shandong province in eastern China (CEIC press release, 30/12/2025). The Kenli offshore project consists of over 2,900 steel truss platforms covering about 1,223 ha, along with long-distance power transmission system that combines 66 kV submarine cables with onshore cables. The project is expected to generate about 1.8 TWh/year of electricity, or about 60% of the energy demand of the Kenli district.

In May 2025, CHN Energy had commissioned its 1 GW Dachaidan wind-solar-storage hybrid project, located in China’s Qinghai Province (700 MW of solar PV and 300 MW of wind).
