Brazil's ANP awards oil blocks in 16th Bidding Round

The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) of Brazil has awarded oil blocks in the maritime sedimentary basins of Campos and Santos during the 16th Bidding Round. The auction will result in cumulative signing bonus payments of BRL 8.9bn (US$2.16bn).

In the Santos Basin, BP won the S-M-1500 block with a signing bonus of BRL 308m (US$75m), while a consortium of Chevron, Repsol and Wintershall won the S-M-766 block with a signing bonus of BRL 54m (US$13m). In the Campos Basin, a consortium of Total, QPI ans Petronas won the C-M-541 block with a signing bonus of BRL 4bn (US$981m), while a consortium  of Shell, Chevron and QPI won the C-M-659 block with a signing bonus of BRL 714m (US$174m); Petrobras won the C-M-477 block with a signing bonus of BRL 2bn (US$498m). ExxonMobil won the C-M-479 with a signing bonus of BRL 25m (US$6.2m), while Petronas won the C-M-661 block with a signing bonus of BRL 1.1bn (US$271m) and the C-M-715 block with a signing bonus of BRL 25m (US$6m).

No bids were received for the three other sectors, namely Camamu-Amada, Jacuípe, and Pernambuco-Paraíba.
