The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) and the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE) of Brazil have released the results of the Auction A-4 2019, which will attract BRL 1,982bn of investments (US$495m) to be commissioned within 4 years. A total of 402 MW of power projects were awarded - six solar projects (204 MW), three wind projects (95 MW), five small hydropower projects (81 MW) and a biomass-fired project (21 MW) - at an average price of BRL 151.15/MWh (US$39.6/MWh), i.e. a 45% discount compared to the ceiling price. The hydropower projects offered a 31% discount at BRL 198.12/MWh (US$51.9/MWh) on average, while wind projects provide a 61% reduction (average price of BRL 79.9/MWh (US$20.9/MWh)) and solar projects a 76% abatement (average price of BRL 67.48/MWh (US$17.7/MWh)). The states benefiting from the contracting of projects were Ceará (5), Piauí (2), Santa Catarina (2), Minas Gerais (2), Rio Grande do Norte (1), Paraná (1), Mato Grosso Mato Grosso do Sul (1).
