BP achieves FID on gas development in Trinidad and Tobago (62 kboe/d)

BP Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) has reached a final investment decision (FID) on its Ginger gas development off Trinidad and Tobago. Ginger is located at approximately 80 km off Trinidad’s south-eastern coast and is set to become the company’s fourth subsea project. It it is planned to include four subsea wells and subsea trees tied back to bpTT’s existing Mahogany B platform. Drilling on the first well began in January 2025 and is expected to resume in the fourth quarter of 2025. First gas is expected in 2027, with a peak capacity to produce 62 kboe/d once operational.

Additionally, the company discovered gas on its Frangipani exploration well, located within the same geological structure of Ginger. Options are currently being evaluated to move the discovery forward at pace. bpTT has a 100% working interest in both Ginger and Frangipani.

The Ginger development is part of bpTT’s strategy of maximizing production from existing acreage, developing capital-efficient projects that tie into existing infrastructure.
