The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur or BNetzA) has launched a first call for tender for combined heat and power (CHP) plants with a deadline set on 1 June 2018. For the first time, 25 MW will available for innovative CHP plants (cap price of €12c/kWh) and 93 MW for the other CHP plants (cap price of €7c/kWh). The share of innovative CHP facilities in the next tenders is expected to be gradually increased in the following rounds.
The last tender took place in 2017 and a capacity of 100 MW was available. During the 2017 tender, the average bidding price stood at €4.05c/kWh while the minimum and maximum prices stood respectively at €3.19c/kWh and €4.99c/kWh. The round attracted 20 offers with a combined capacity of 225 MW but only 82 MW were slated despite a planned tender volume of 100 MW, since the next 2018 bid would have significantly exceeded the tender volume. The undrawn volume will be caught up in the current bidding round.
