Belarus ratifies common electricity market agreement with Russia

The President of Belarus has signed a law to ratify the agreement between Belarus and Russia on the formation of a common electric energy market (SB.BY, 09/12/2025). The ratified treaty establishes the “legal basis for the formation, functioning and development of the common electricity market of the Union State, the composition of subjects, their rights and obligations, as well as the procedure for interaction of participants in the purchase and sale of electric energy.”

In 2021, Russia and Belarus signed an international agreement on developing a unified electricity market expecting to start operating on 2024.
