The Indian state-run Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has unveiled the results of the latest 2,000 MW onshore wind tender held in April 2018. The winning bidding price remained at INR2.51/kWh (roughly US$3.74c/kWh), the same level as during the last auction.
Six manufacturing companies won a total of 1,435 MW at a winning price of INR2.51/kWh - Srijan Energy Systems (250 MW), Sprng Energy (300 MW), BLP Energy (285 MW), Betam Wind Energy (200 MW), Inox Wind (100 MW) and Adani Green Energy (300 MW) - while two other companies were awarded the remaining 565 MW at a rate of INR2.52/kWh (300 MW for Mytrah Energy and 265 MW for Renew Wind Energy).
The Indian government plans to auction 10 GW of wind power in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020, respectively. These rounds are expected to contribute to India’s target of achieving 60 GW of wind power generation capacity by 2022.
