Average bid price of €6.16c/kWh for Germany's last onshore wind auction

The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur or BNetzA) has published the results of the third 2018 tender for onshore wind power projects. The auction was slightly oversubscribed: 91 offers came out with a total capacity of 709 MW while the total available capacity was set at 670 MW, out of which 222 MW in the so called "network expansion area", which comprises mostly acreage located in North Germany. The average bidding rate stood at €6.16c/kWh (€5.73c/kWh in May 2018 and €4.73c/kWh in February 2018), while the highest bidding rate reached €6.3/kWh.

Meanwhile, the BNetzA also announced the upcoming auctions for wind and solar power with a bidding deadline set for 1 October 2018. 670 MW of wind and 182 MW of solar capacity will be offered and the bidding cap prices have been set at €6.3c/kWh and €8.75c/kWh, respectively.

Since the beginning of 2017, solar and wind power projects bigger than 750 kW have to compete in tenders in order to secure power purchase deals, as feed-in tariff (FiT) contracts are no longer available.
