Argentina launches a 1.2 GW renewable energies power capacity tender

The Argentinian government has launched the second auction round under the framework of the RenovAr renewable energies programme. This round targets 1,200 MW of new generation capacity, of which 550 MW has been set for wind energy, 450 MW for solar energy and 100 MW for biomass. The maximum bidding price of the RenovAr Round 2 is set at US$56.25/MWh for wind energy, US$57.04/MWh for solar and US$110/MWh for biomass.



Interested parties have until 20 October 2017 to present their offers while the awards are expected for 29 November 2017. The deadline for legal formalization and signing of contracts with Foder (Fondo para el Desarrollo de Energías Renovables) is set on 15 May 2018. The approved projects are expected to enter into service in mid-2019. The offered capacity is spread across several states such as Patagonia (200 MW of wind capacity), Buenos Aires (200 MW of wind capacity), Comahue (200 MW of wind capacity), Noa (200 MW of solar) and Cuyo (200 MW of solar).
