The Argentinian government has awarded three thermal cogeneration projects with a combined capacity of 506 MW to two local companies under the framework of a bidding process. 22 other projects with a total planned capacity of 2,250 MW participated as well, but the bids were rejected. Nevertheless, the rejected companies can revise their bids and the deadline for the submission of new offers expires on 6 October 2017.
Two of the attributed projects with a combined projected capacity of 406 MW (namely Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza for 89 MW and San Lorenzo in Santa Fe for 317 MW) have been assigned to the Argentinian company Central Puerto SA while the last one (Arroyo Seco in Santa Fe, 100 MW) was awarded to the domestic company Generacion Mediterranea SA. The authorities did not disclose how much the companies bid but the three projects will require private investments of at least US$500m.
