The Indian power transmission company Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (APTRANSCO) has selected six companies in its auction to develop 1 GW/2 GWh of standalone BESS in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (Mercom India, 28/11/2025). The tender was launched in August 2025 and it received a lowest bid of INR148,000/MW/month (US$1,654/MW/month).
The awarded companies were Ecoren Energy (two projects totalling 500 MW/1 GWh), Bondada Engineering (225 MW/450 MWh), POWERGRID (150 MW/300 MWh), Bhagwati Group (75 MW/150 MWh), SVR Electro Projects (25 MW/50 MWh) and Legion Energy Products (25 MW/50 MWh).
The developers are expected to set up, operate and maintain a BESS which should be available to serve Andhra Pradesh’s DISCOMS/ SLDC for charging/discharging on an “on demand” basis.
