Crude Oil Production
The 4.2 Mt/year Bosanski Brod refinery, situated in the Republic of Srpska, has been modernised to produce Euro-5 fuels and MTBE. In 2018, oil refining volumes fell by 23% to 675 kt due to an emergency shutdown in October. The refinery has been idle since then and production has not restarted yet, although a new gas pipeline connecting the refinery to the natural gas transmission system of Croatia was completed in 2021. Oil product imports more than doubled between 2010 (0.7 Mt) and 2020 (1.5 Mt).

Renewable in % Electricity Production
A National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) was adopted in 2016, reaffirming the 40% target for renewables in final energy consumption in 2020 (38% reached in 2019), 57% for electricity (45% in 2019), 52% for heating and cooling (56%), and 10% for transport (less than 0.5%).
Both entities have adopted their own renewable energy laws (in 2013), their own feed-in tariffs (FiTs) and their own NREAPs (in 2014).
In July 2022, BiH abolished the capacity limits for connecting wind farms and solar power plants to the grid.
