In this report, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum leveraged our data to illustrate the section “Gas consumption by sector”, delving into the details of sectors on a global scale, including industry, residential/commercial, and automotive. They relied on our estimations of global gas reserves to illustrate the regional distribution of gas shares, as well as the division between conventional and unconventional gas reserves.

The European Court of Auditors releases a quarterly journal, and the march edition was dedicated to articles exploring the question “Is the EU’s energy transition getting into gear?”. They approached us to contribute an article on this crucial topic, and our experts, Géraldine DUFFOUR and Morgan CRENES, responded by writing the opening article of the journal: “Energy crisis and the energy transition – a supply-side shock in gas”, which can be found on page 7.

The vgbe is the international technical association for the generation and storage of electricity and heat. The vgbe releases a monthly energy journal in English and in German issued in 45 countries. They have selected our publication “The geostrategic challenges of hydrogen” to appear in the last edition of the vgbe journal.

The Gas Market Analysis Department used our data at the beginning of their analysis to illustrate the growth of natural gas consumption with a graph presenting the natural gas final consumption by sector from 2010 to 2021.

In November, Aurélien PEFFEN participated to a workshop in Brussels on “The EU-ETS price through 2030 and beyond: A closer look at drivers, models and assumptions”. Carbon Pulse used the figures of this workshop to publish an article “Analysts see growing role of industrials as an EUA price driver”, in particular, our POLES-Enerdata outcomes for EUA prices projection to 2030.

Following a report made for the JRC – European Commission on seasonal impacts of climate change on electricity production, our energy analyst Jacques DESPRES was contacted by SEB bank to contribute to the bi-monthly “The Green Bond report”. Thus, he wrote the article “Rethinking sustainable investment”, based on simulations into the POLES-Enerdata model

Reuters has written this column to highlights positive impact of the power crises on the efficiency of energy systems. Our data have been used to build various graphs to show the evolution of GDP and energy intensity in the ten most energy-intensive countries, as well as energy intensity in key markets.

The researchers used our data available on our outlook and yearbook applications to illustrate the articles with two graphs on Indonesia: the growth of the installed capacity of renewables from 2010 to 2021, compared to the 2050 objective, and the percentage of coal in the power generation mix from 2015 to 2021.

Reuters has written this column to point the surge in coal use in Europe in 2022 resulting from the energy crisis. Enerdata’s yearbook is the source demonstrating how Europe and the US led the reduction in coal consumption and CO2 emissions until 2021.

Morgan Crenes, Head of Research & Innovation at Enerdata, has written, together with the EBF team, an executive brief facilitating banks, their customers but also other stakeholders in setting their strategies and targets, as it explores how the EU’s energy transition could be impacted by the recent crises in the short term, through the lens of the latest trends in fossil fuel consumption, while also examining possible alternatives in the long term.

Baptiste Possémé, CleanTech Senior Consutlant at Enerdata, has been interviewed by Sophie Douez for the writing of a “big picture” regarding the fast-growing EV battery market in Europe.Baptiste provided information regarding the supply chain battery players and investments in innovation.

CNN has written an article to analyse the evolution of several criteria of the two biggest GHG emitters: US and China, regarding the climate transition. The journalists used Enerdata’s figures to compare the emissions per capita, the energy mix and power production from wind and solar.
