Woodside starts processing Pluto gas at the NWS LNG project in Australia

The Australian energy group Woodside has started to process gas from the offshore Pluto fields at the Karratha Gas Plant (KGP) of the North West Shelf (NWS) Project in Western Australia, thanks to the early start-up of the Pluto-KGP Interconnector. The KGP is expected to process around 2.5 Mt/year of LNG from Pluto gas field over the 2022-2025 period, filling its spare capacity and enabling Woodside to boost its LNG exports.

Woodside owns a 16.67% operating interest in the NWS project, in partnership with BHP Petroleum, BP, Chevron, Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) (a 50:50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsui) and Shell (16.67% each). Woodside also holds a 90% stake in the 4.9 Mt/year Pluto LNG plant.
