UGL is building 469 MW/2.1 GWh of BESS in Western Australia

The engineering services company UGL has started construction works on two of Neoen's BESS projects totalling 2,125 MWh in Australia, namely the 305 MW/1,220 MWh Western Downs BESS Stage 3 in Queensland, and the 164 MW/905 MWh Muchea BESS in Western Australia, scheduled for commissioning in 2027 (UGL press release).

The Muchea project is Neoen's third large-scale BESS in Western Australia, following the completion of the 560 MW/2,240 MWh Collie BESS. The company’s total Australian portfolio of storage capacity currently in operation or under construction has now reached 1.7 GW/5.1 GWh.

Following installation, UGL will provide testing and commissioning support.
