Indian companies Senvion India and KP Group have signed a framework agreement to jointly develop up to 2 GW of wind and wind-solar hybrid projects across several Indian states over the next three years (Senvion press release, 14/11/2025). Under the agreement, KP Group, through KPI Green Energy, KP Energy, and KP Green Engineering, will lead site identification and project development. Both Senvion India and KP Group will operate independently within their defined roles under the collaboration.
Senvion India, strategically owned by Global Renewable Energy Development Holding Company, the Dubai-based investment arm of Saudi Arabia’s Alfanar Group, will supply wind turbine generators, contracted through project-specific supply agreements.
In October 2025, India’s Ministry of Power announced that the country’s installed power capacity had surpassed 500 GW, reaching 500.89 GW. Of this total, non-fossil fuel sources, including renewable energy, hydro, and nuclear, accounted for 256.09 GW, representing over 51%, while fossil fuel-based sources contributed 244.8 GW, or approximately 49% (KEI, 31/10/2025).
