RusHydro plans to commission 1.8 GW of new capacity by 2017 (Russia)

Russian power utility RusHydro generated 38.4 TWh in 2013, which is 13% below the 2012 level. Bashkortostan and Ryazan power retail companies decreased their output after several major industrial consumers switched to their own wholesale purchases following market liberalization. During 2013, the group installed three new 640 MW units at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant and five 333 MW units at the Boguchanskya hydropower plant. RusHydro plans to commission 1,757 MW by the end of 2016, not including the 840 MW Zagorskaya PSP-2 and the 342 Zaramagskaya hydropower plants, whose commissioning will be determined after additional review in 2014. The company plans to start commercial operation of a 333 MW unit at the Boguchanskaya hydropower complex, and to commission two hydropower units at the 140 MW Zelenchukskaya and 100 MW Gotsatlinskaya hydropower plants in 2014 (total of 573 MW). RusHydro also plans to commission 592 MW in 2015 and in 2016.

By 2017, RusHydro's power generation is expected to increase by 17 TWh/year, of which 3.3 TWh/year should come from the Boguchanskaya hydropower plant, 3.3 TWh/year from other new hydropower plants and the remainder from thermal power projects. Almost 1 GW of capacity (compared to 2012 figures) will be added through 2025-2030 as a result of extensive rehabilitation and modernization of hydropower plants, primarily of the Volga-Kama cascade, along with efficiency improvements and extension of lifetime for existing assets.
