Red Rock Power & Eni will jointly bid in the ScotWind offshore leasing round (UK)

Red Rock Power and Eni have created a 50/50 joint venture to bid in the forthcoming ScotWind offshore leasing round in Scotland (United Kingdom). The ScotWind leasing round is part of the Scottish government's plan to reach up to 11 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. An area of 8,600 km2 of Scottish seabed is potentially available for development. The closing date for submitting applications is 16 July 2021. The joint venture will be supported by the transmission company, Transmission Investment. Red Rock Power is an affiliate of the Chinese state-owned company State Development & Investment Corporation (SDIC). 

Three other consortiums had already publicly announced their intention to bid for sites in the tender, namely:

  • Ørsted / Falck Renewables / BlueFloat Energy,
  • Ocean Winds (50/50 JV between EDPR and Engie) / Aker Offshore Wind,
  • TotalEnergies / Macquarie Green Investment Group (GIG) / Renewable Infrastructure Development Group (RIDG).
