Qatar's state-owned energy company QatarEnergy has started construction on a 1.2 Mt/year blue ammonia facility, located in Mesaieed Industrial City, south of Doha (Qatar). The facility will also feature a 1.5 Mt/year unit for CO2 injection and storage.
The QAR4.4bn (US$1.2bn) project is expected to start production in the second quarter of 2026. QatarEnergy plans to provide the new plant with more than 35 MW of electricity from a solar power plant currently being built in Mesaieed.
