The Greek companies PPC Group and METLEN have established a 50/50 joint venture company to jointly develop, build and operate a portfolio of BESS projects of up to 1.5 GW/3 GWh in Romania, Bulgaria and Italy. Based on two-hour liquid-cooled battery systems using LFP technology, 1 GW out of these 1.5 GW are expected to be implemented within the next 12 months.
The projects aim to support adjacent photovoltaic and wind parks by storing surplus energy. Contributing their respective expertise, PPC Group, which already has a presence in these countries, will ensure rapid project development and efficient energy management, while METLEN will ensure the timely and high-quality construction of the projects.
