Mexico's state-owned oil company Pemex has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with a consortium of Hermes and ATCO on the one hand and with Mitsui on the other hand for the development of CHP power plants to be built in its Tula (Hidalgo) and Cadereyta (Nuevo Leon) refineries in Mexico. Total investment is estimated at US$1.4bn. Hermes-Atco will be in charge of the development of a 638 MW gas-fired CHP power plant on the Tula refinery site; it will supply 1,247 t/hour of steam for the refinery. Investment is estimated at US$820m. Mitsui will be in charge of the development of a 380 MW gas-fired CHP power plant at the Cadereyta refinery, to which it will supply 760 t/hour of steam. Investment is estimated at US$590m. Both CHP plants are expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2017. The projects are among the eight CHP projects in which Pemex will seek private partners by 2018.
