Oman seeks to assess 1 GW hydrogen-fired power plant project

Oman’s state-owned energy company Nama Power and Water Procurement (PWP) has launched a tender for consultancy services to assess an 800-1,000 MW hydrogen-fired power project that would be 100% fuelled by green hydrogen. The selected techno-economic advisor will carry out an initial assessment for the feasibility of the project.

This move is part of Oman’s wider plan to adopt cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions, while supporting its long-term energy transition goals. State-owned hydrogen orchestrator Hydrom has awarded land to eight projects for up to 1.2 Mt of green hydrogen projects, with an ongoing third auction also offering tax breaks and reducing fees for more developments.
