Nama Power and Water Procurement Company has signed new 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with three independent power producers (IPPs) to secure 3.5 GW of gas-fired power generation capacity in Oman (Zawya, 08/04/2026).
The PPAs cover 1,978 MW of Phoenix Power Company's 2,074 MW Sur power plant, 746 MW of Al Suwadi Power Company's (ASPC's) 750 MW Barka III power plant and 746 MW of Al Batinah Power Company's (ABPC's) 750 MW Sohar II power plant.
The new PPAs will come into effect when current 15-year PPAs expire, i.e. between 2028 and 2029.
