The Malaysian independent power producer (IPP) Malakoff Corporation has ordered two sets of M701JAC gas turbines and gas turbines generators to Mitsubishi Power for a new 1,400 MW CCGT power project in the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia, according to a filing to Bursa Malaysia (13/10/2025). The reservation agreement (RA) grants Malakoff Corporation the right to reserve manufacturing and delivery slots for the equipment prior to finalising the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract for the project. It also grants the company the right to reserve another two gas turbines for another 1.4 GW CCGT power plant in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia. No further details on the proposed projects were disclosed.
Malakoff Corporation is the main IPP in Malaysia, with a capacity of 5.9 GW (end 2024) through its stakes in 6 power plants comprising 3 CCGT: SEV (1 303 MW, 93.8% stake), GB3 (640 MW, 75% stake) and Prai (350 MW, 100% stake) and 3 coal power plants: Tanjung Bin Energy Power (1 000 MW, 100% stake), Tanjuing Bin Power (2 100 MW, 90% stake), and Kapar (2 200 MW, 40% stake).
