Kentz has won a Manpower Services contract for the Qatargas Laffan Refinery Phase 2 Project (LR2) in Qatar. This expansion project will process an additional 146,000 bbl/d of condensate recovered from one of the world's largest non-associated gas fields, the North Field. The second phase of the Ras Laffan project will double the capacity of the current refinery. The project is expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2016 for a cost estimated at US$1.5bn,.
The Laffan Refinery 1 (LR1) currently produces 61,000 bbl/d of naphtha, 52,000 bbl/d of jet fuel, 24,000 bbl/d of gasoil and 9,000 bbl/d of liquid petroleum gas (LPG). Qatar Petroleum is the leading shareholder of the LR1 with a holding of 51%. The remaining shares are spread between several international companies with ExxonMobil, Total, Idemitsu and Cosmo each holding 10% stakes and with Mitsui and Marubeni retaining 4.5% each.
