Indonesia will implement a B50 biodiesel blend in 2026

The Indonesian President has officially announced that its country will implement a mandatory B50 biodiesel blend (50% palm oil, 50% conventional diesel) within the current year (The Jakarta Globe, 30/03/2026). Indonesia started to implement a B40 mandate in 2025, after switching to B35 in 2023.

Technical testing for the B50 program is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2026. If the energy crisis worsens, the country is prepared to increase the blend further to B60.

The average share of biofuels in road transport fuel consumption rose from less than 1% in 2010 to nearly 15% in 2024, of which 32% for diesel.
