Compagnie électrique de Bretagne, a special-purpose company owned by TotalEnergies, has commissioned a 446 MW combined-cycle gas-fired (CCGT) power plant in Landivisiau in Brittany (north-western France). The €450 MW project was built by Siemens Energy, which will also provide operation and maintenance services for 20 years.
The project was awarded to Compagnie Electrique de Bretagne (CEB), a joint-venture of Poweo Direct Energie (later taken over by Total, 60%) and Siemens Project Ventures (SPV, 40%) in March 2012 and construction was approved by French authorities in January 2013, with a planned commissioning during the winter 2016-2017. However, the project aroused a fierce local opposition and construction only started in 2019.
Gas accounts for 9% of France's installed capacity, with 12.6 GW (2020).
