Deliveries from the Tangguh LNG project started. First cargo was shipped to South Korea. The Tangguh liquefaction plant became the country's third LNG facility. The plant includes two trains with each a capacity of 5.2 bcm/year of LNG. Train 1 started production in June 2009 while Train 2 will begin later in 2009. BP Indonesia, with a 37.2% interest, operates the terminal as a contractor of BPMigas, the oil and gas regulator. Other partners are MI Berau BV (16.3%), CNOOC (13.9%), Nippon Oil Exploration (12.23%), KG Berau/KG Wiriagar (10%), LNG Japan Corp. (7.35%), and Talisman (3.06%). Total investment in the project is estimated at $5bn. Long term contracts have been signed to supply 3.5 bcm/year of LNG to Chinas Fujian terminal (CNOOC), 1.6 bcm/year to K-Power and POSCO in South Korea, and 5 bcm/year through a flexible contact to Sempra's LNG regasification terminal in Baja California, Mexico. In December 2009, Pertamina signed a 15-year contract to deliver 125,000 tons/year to Tohoku Electric Power Co (Japan).
