The German manufacturer Enercon has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two Turkish companies, namely İş Enerji and Polat Enerji, for the delivery of at least 350 onshore wind turbines to Türkiye. Under the deal, Enercon will supply its E-175 EP5 units (6-7 MW each) over the next five years, totalling 2.5 GW.
Polat Enerji is currently the largest wind energy operator in Türkiye with an installed capacity of over 740 MW, while İş Enerji operates 84 MW of wind.
In October 2024, Türkiye’s Ministry of Energy unveiled its 2035 roadmap for renewable energy, in which the country plans to quadruple its wind and solar capacity to reach 120 GW by 2035. As of end-2023, Türkiye had around 12 GW of wind capacity.
