Enel (Italy) unveils 2025 preliminary results with lower power generation

The Italian energy group Enel Group has reported preliminary 2025 results, posting higher earnings driven by international operations (Enel Group press release, 05/02/2026). Ordinary EBITDA grew 2.2% year-on-year to €22.9bn. Revenues rose 1.9% to €80.4bn, boosted by higher wholesale commodity prices and improved grid revenues. These gains offset lower retail prices for residential and small/medium business customers, reduced top-tier sales volumes (mainly in Italy), and lower renewable output due to limited hydro resources.

In 2025, Enel had a total capacity of 92.8 GW (+3%), of which 28.2 GW was located in Italy (+5%), including 16.9 GW of renewables (+4%, with +589 MW of BESS capacity) and 11.3 GW of thermal (+8%, +800 MW of CCGT capacity). In 2025, Enel generated 186.1 TWh of electricity (-3% compared to 2024), including 31.6 TWh in Italy (-9%), due to a lower production from hydropower, wind, and geothermal plants. The group distributed 474.7 TWh on its grids (-1.35%), including 208 TWh in Italy (-4%) to over 31 million customers, and sold 249.9 TWh (-8.6%), of which 57 TWh were sold in Italy (--23%) to 13.7 million customers (-6%).
