Spanish energy group Endesa has announced a 4.9% increase in its power generation in 2015 to 73.1 TWh, despite a 2% drop in its installed capacity to 21.2 GW (-17% in its oil- and gas-fired capacity to 2.4 GW, but +4 % in the power generation from this source).
Adverse hydrological conditions led to a 18% fall in hydropower generation to 7.2 TWh, that was offset by a 35% increase in CCGT generation (to 7.5 TWh) and by a higher nuclear generation (+4% to 25.8 TWh) and coal-fired generation (+7% to 26.1 TWh). Endesa generated 60.7 TWh in peninsular Spain and 12.4 TWh in extra-peninsular territories (+1.6%). The group distributed 114 TWh across the Spanish market (+2.9%) and sold 78 TWh to its free market customers (+0.8%) and 14.9 TWh on the regulated market (-9.8%); its gas sales amounted to 71.6 TWh (-3.7%). In 2015 Endesa attained a 38.8% market share in peninsular electricity generation under ordinary regime, 43.5% in distribution and 35.7% in sales to free market customers.
