Enbridge sells natural gas processing units for US$3.3bn (Canada)

The Canadian energy transportation company Enbridge will divest several Western Canadian natural gas processing plants and gathering pipelines to a partnership led by the infrastructure asset management fund Brookfield Infrastructure for a total consideration of CAD4.31bn (roughly US$3.3bn). The transaction encompasses 9 natural gas processing plants and liquids handling facilities, with a total operating capacity of 3.3 bcf/f (93 mcm/d), and 3,550 km of natural gas pipelines in the Montney, Peace River Arch, Horn River and Liard basins in British Columbia (B.C.) and Alberta. The sale of the provincially regulated facilities is expected to close in 2018, while that of the federally regulated facilities is anticipated to close in mid-2019.

Enbridge is North America's largest energy infrastructure company since the acquisition of Spectra Energy, including Spectra's 33,800 km of oil and gas pipelines, 8.5 bcm of gas storage and 4.8 mbl of oil storage, and of a 50% ownership in DCP Midstream, largest producer of natural gas liquids in the US.
